October Challenge - 2018 - Week 3 - Flu


October has struck again!  After failing this challenge Week 1, I jumped back on the wagon and kicked ass on Week 2.  So, naturally October said, "Nope.  Remember me?"  I did great on Sunday, and then Monday the flu hit me like a train.

Monday started off real well.  I logged into work like normal.  I did about an hour's worth of work and then got up to take a break and walked off my first 10 minutes of the day.  Shortly after that, the sneezing fits started which felt like little bombs going off inside my sinus cavity.  By Monday night, I was down for the count.

I ran out of Kleenex on Friday and also needed to replace the ground beef that sat in the refrigerator all week for meal prep that I wasn't even going to attempt with the flu.  So Friday I went to Walmart and that's the only reason I earned almost 20 minutes of active time because, when it comes to Walmart...or shopping in general, the faster I get in and out of there...the better my day will be.  I think Walmart will do that to anybody on foot.

So, here's the thing.  This was a fitness challenge.  I clearly lost this challenge.  There's no denying that I wasn't able to make it happen this month.  Therefore, I'll be repeating this challenge next month...on top of whatever else we do.  But, even so, it was important to listen to my body.  It was absolutely important that I get my rest this week and use all of the energy I could spare for fighting off this flu.  I think because I did that, it came and went fairly quickly and with very little issue.

Our health and wellbeing are far more important than fitness challenges.  So we both stand by listening to our bodies and I do not feel any shame for resting this week and taking the entire week off.  The idea is to create healthy habits, not get skinny, remember?

Still feeling like a badass...flu fightin' ninja...
