Run Signup Race Review
Run Signup is another race platform which allows you to sign up to and complete multiple virtual challenges. Its a little different from the other race platforms I’ve reviewed so far. This one actually allows you to create races.
So it looks like the races I’ve completed through this platform were actually set up by customers of the platform. For the same of simplicity, we’ll call them race hosts.
It looks like the race host sets up the race through this website and decides on the gear and theme. The Run Signup platform takes a small percentage of the earnings from the challenges in return for hosting the capability and processing the racers.
There are several websites that offer various virtual races, my reviews are looking like they will be very similar for each race offered by one site. So I thought maybe a review of the platform offering the races would be appropriate so you can decide for yourself if you want to pursue races at each site.
Races Completed with Run Signup
- Best Damn Race Florida
- I Am The Storm
- Suicide Awareness Virtual 5k, 10k, Half Marathon
- I Run 4 America
- I Run 4 Frontline Heroes
- I Run 2 Kick Corona’s A$$
- March of the Dogs 5k/10k
- Run from 2020
- Sloth Running Team
- Zombie 5k Virtual Run
The first race I did with this one was the most motivating race I’ve done so far. Sloth and I did it as a team and we won 1st place by completing the race before all of the other teams! It was both of our first time winning 1st place at anything so it was super special to both of us.
The other challenges I did through this platform were challenges that I felt good or strongly about. I liked the charity or I liked the theme. When I signed up for them, I’m not sure I realized they all came through this platform. Unlike most other platforms, the races through this one don’t seem as obvious about the platform. Or it’s possible I just didn’t pay attention.
What I Like
There are a few positive things to tell you about here with my Run Signup review:
- Medals
- Quality
- User Friendly
- Charities
- Stats
- Referrals
Out of the races I’ve participated in so far through this platform, I have yet to receive a medal that wasn’t top quality. The medals are top quality. Signing up for the challenges has always been super simple and entering your stats is easy as well. The site is user friendly, it’s not terribly difficult to find your way around.
Each race has the option to donate a percentage of the proceeds to various charities. I like that. You can also earn referral credits when you refer people to each race. Sometimes, you earn money refunded from the race when your friends join in.
What I Dislike
To be fair, my Run Signup review should also include the things I don’t like. But there really isn’t much that I don’t like about this platform:
- Device Sync
- Following Friends
- Finding Races
The races don’t sync your activities automatically from your devices or apps. That’s a big downfall for me. I rarely remember to go in and enter my stats manually. I’m lucky if I remember to track my stats at all.
If you’re on a team, you’re able to see your teammates stats pretty easily. But if you’re both participating in a race as individuals, I haven’t found a way to track each other or cheer each other on yet. I’d like to be able to do that.
Finding Races on this platform isn’t as user friendly as other platforms may be. Here, we have to click into each race to get any details about it. I would prefer to see the details like price and distance right up front. Don’t make me work for it.
Run Signup Race Review Summary
Not bad.
So, to summarize my Run Signup Race Review, I don’t regret any of the races I’ve participated in on this platform. There are some good things and there are a few things that could use some improvement. The good definitely outweighs the bad for this one.
I do recommend this site, definitely. There are multiple races to choose from so you can find the one that’s right for you. It’s easy to go in and enter your stats and you might even earn money for doing so if you convince your friends to join you!
And, by the way, if you’re looking for a cool way to track your progress on your races or just to jot down the details, be sure to check out our Virtual Race Journal.
