Patriot Day 5k/10k Virtual Race Review
Today I signed up for the Patriot Day 5k/10k Virtual Race. Patriot Day is an important day for me. I will never forget what happened that day. There are several virtual races with this theme again this year and I’m not going to skip them like I did last year.
This one is just a simple 5k or 10k, your choice. You don’t have to do it on a specific day, you can do it any time you like and anywhere you like.

What I Liked
I haven’t started this challenge yet, and don’t intend to until closer to 9/11/2021. But so far, there were several things I liked about the Patriot Day 5k/10k Virtual Race:
- Charity
- Theme
- Gear
The theme is the reason I signed up for the race. To honor those lives lost and impacted by the terrorist attack on 9/11/01. I’m not sure I even have the words now to describe how that day impacted me… and I wasn’t even there. I can’t imagine the impact it had on those that were.
A lot of our first responders sacrificed their lives that day trying to save our people. This race donates some of the proceeds to the First Responders Children’s Foundation charity. This was another reason I signed up for this race.
The gear looks nice. I’ll write more about it when I receive it.
What I Disliked
To be fair, the Patriot Day 5k/10k Virtual Race review should also report what I didn’t like about it, right? I haven’t started or completed the race yet, but there was a couple things I don’t particularly care for with this race:
- Price
- Limited Time Sale
It is one of the more pricey races I’ve signed up for. I don’t like when races are $30 are more, I feel that’s too expensive for what we get, but that’s just me.
The sale seemed very short. I literally signed up for this race the very day that I saw it and the sale is ending tomorrow. Patriot Day is in September. Today is July 24th. I feel like they could’ve held the sale a little while longer.
Summary
Yet to be determined.
So, the Patriot Day 5k/10k Virtual Race is a pricey race, but I love the theme. I love that I will be honoring such a meaningful day in my lifetime and our nation’s history. I love that it will contribute to the First Responders Children’s Foundation.
Once I’ve completed this challenge, I’ll come back and let you know how it went. Or… you know… you could sign up and run it with me! Just sayin…
