Weight Loss Journey – Ki’s Progress

So… it’s been awhile. It’s not that I haven’t been trying, I have. It’s been a huge roller coaster ride for some time now. It looks like I’m just short of a year since last time I visited this site and posted. I’m sorry for that.
Last year was super duper stressful for me. My son needed an emergency surgery on his spine do to a couple of issues that were causing him to lose functionality in his feet and legs very quickly. It was a scary situation that we were dealing with for about four months.
After that I think depression paid a not-so-friendly visit and kept me off my game.
I was still doing the whole Keto Diet thing… off and on. It’s a bit frustrating because when I do Keto, I lose weight. The problem is my son and I both have a strong sweet tooth and we give in too easily. No excuse, that’s what it is, we binge sweets and starches.
Fast forward to this year, we have a plot twist. My mom found out this month that she has celiac disease. We started researching this disease and found out that it’s highly genetic. So it’s likely I also have it or will have it. I looked up the symptoms and found that I have 20 of the 39 symptoms already. I may have just found the main culprit of my weight issues. That said, I’m a veteran and it’ll take some convincing to get them to test for it and confirm. But I will work on that.
In the meantime, we are in the middle of the Covid-19 / coronavirus pandemic at the moment. It’s highly frustrating because my son and I were going to the gym faithfully four times a week and we were highly motivated. But this pandemic has now closed our gym and we lost our motivation. It’s a very stressful year for us as we have a lot of big life changes coming amidst the current economical and safety chaos. So, we’ll see how things work out.
In the meantime, I’m going to try and get my ass in gear again. I have a wedding to go to in September and I would love to show up and show my family that I’ve made major progress on my journey. That’s going to be my motivation for now.
What’s the Plan?
The plan for this first week, starting tomorrow is to begin the Keto Diet and start tracking my macros for it.
Exercise wise, my goal is to achieve at least 10,000 steps per day…every day.
We don’t have a monthly fitness challenge going right now. But I think I’m going to repeat last year’s April Challenge starting next week. Last April, we did the Butt Challenge. That’s a great place for me to start again this year. We didn’t ever finish the challenge last year. We gave up with 2 days to go, kind of ridiculous really. But whatever, not going to beat myself up about it. Just put it in gear, girl.
Now let’s see how I did with my other goals.

Last Week’s Stats – 03/16/2020
I don’t have stats for last week! While I did wear my Fitbit, I didn’t sync it up. And I didn’t do much of anything but work long hours. So nothing to report this week but hoping to report next week.
New Goals
Goal #1 – Diet Log – My diet goal for this week is to get back into Keto and to start tracking what I consume again.
Goal #2 – 30 Min. Cardio / 4 days – My exercise goal is to accomplish 30 minutes of cardio at least 4 days this week.
Goal #3 – Keto macros per day tracked – By tracking my macros each day, I can get a better idea of what I need to be doing to stay in ketosis. I have a spreadsheet that uses conditional formatting to show when I did well and when I didn’t. The red indicates areas that need improvement. My goal for now is just to get the tracking habit started for this.
Goal #4 – 6 hours of sleep per night – My sleep goal is always to get 6 hours or more of sleep each night.
Lets Go!
Here we are. My goals are set for the week and I’m going to get back on track. Now today is Monday and it’s almost over. I did not start my diet today and I’m not starting my exercise today. I will start tomorrow. I promise.
I’ll be back this time next week to let you know if I met these goals of mine this week.

How was your week? Did you meet your goals this week? What are you currently trying? Let us know in the comments below!
