Don’t Slow Your Roll – Race Review

Don’t Slow Your Roll Virtual Race Review

Dont Slow Your Roll Medal

The Don’t Slow Your Roll Virtual Race was the very first race that I signed up for.  I think the Sloth signed up for it at the same time.  It was the race that got us both interested in participating in virtual races.

I mean… golden toilet paper in the year that people stock piled toilet paper preventing others from getting any.  How perfect!  It was a very fitting medal to start our collection and remember the year of 2020 by.

I signed up for this race on May 7, 2020 and received the medal on May 11th.  The half marathon was what I elected to achieve in order to earn this medal, granted… I actually received the medal before I completed the miles.  But I did eventually get it done on May 17th.

What I Liked

Dont Slow Your Roll Distance

There were several things I liked about the Don’t Slow Your Roll Virtual Race:
  • Charity
  • Theme
  • Medal
  • Price

I appreciated very much that a portion of the proceeds would go to NoChildHungry.org.  The theme was perfect for the type of year we were having at the time.  The medal was cute!  When I actually received the medal, the quality was even better than I expected.  The price was right.  It was less expensive than some of the other races out there at the time.

What I Disliked

To be fair, my Don’t Slow Your Roll Virtual Race review should also report what I didn’t like about it, right?  There weren’t many things I disliked about this race.  But there were a few:

  • Not Earned
  • Device Sync

The biggest thing that I found annoying was that I got the medal before I even started on the miles.  I prefer to receive a medal for something I completed.  Getting the medal before I started made me feel like I didn’t earn it, I just bought it.  I guess I pretty much did just buy it.

The only other complaint I had at the time was that there was no device sync feature.  I had to manually enter my time for it… which I never did.  My virtual race journal has my times because I wrote them down, but I didn’t enter it on the website or anything.  I mean, why should I?

Summary

Dont Slow Your Roll SummaryCute…but a bit underwhelming.

So, the Don’t Slow Your Roll Virtual Race was not a total waste of time.  I will always cherish my gold toilet paper roll.  It was perfectly fitting for the times.

I do not regret this race at all.  It was the first of many and it did motivate me to get up off my behind and get to stepping.
