Beck’s Progress – August 13 – August 20, 2018
Okay, so I decided that I would get real intense for the next month and just see what happens. I don’t want to go crazy with the scale… I know that’s bad for my brain. So I’m just going to weigh and measure every 15 days and see where I land.
Let’s talk stats as of Monday 8-13. Oh boy… this is not a conversation I really wanted to have with myself. Big sigh… (I see you over there pouting Sloth… I’m ignoring you and continuing on.)
Stats so far:
- Weight: 225 pounds.
- Upper Arm: 15
- Chest: 49
- 2 inches above navel: 53
- 2 inches below navel: 50
- Hips: 47
- Thighs: 25

Not good. I actually undid all the good I did in previous attempts at being healthy.
(I see you over there looking smug Sloth. That is not a good thing.)
As you can see from the before photos… I’m not happy enough to have my head in the shot.
I had a really icky look on my fast just taking the photos.
Let’s not go there, hopefully the mid point photos will be less angry with myself.
Now here are the goals I’m working on sticking to:
Week 1: 15,000 steps a day. No more than 2,000 calories in a day. 75 ounces of water. 2 gym days a week.
Week 2: 20,000 steps a day. No more than 1900 calories in a day. 75 ounces of water. 2 -3 gym days.
Week 3: 25,000 steps a day. No more than 1800 calories in a day. 75 ounces of water 2 – 4 gym days.
Week 4: 30,000 steps a day. No more than 1700 calories in a day. 75 ounces of water. 2 -5 gym days.
Will I make it? Time will tell.
That all being said, How was this week?
Work days are by far the easiest days to get my steps in. I’m on my feet the entire shift walking around and doing things. No breaks. No time to sit or chill. I’ve got it! Weekends when I don’t have to work or have errands to run… ehhh… It’s a little harder. But I made my goals.

Monday was strong. I finished the day with 21,144 steps. Burned around 3,669 calories. Traveled for 9.37 miles and was active for about 98 minutes. I consumed only 1,398. I wasn’t hungry, just tired from work. I hit my exercise and water intake goals for the day.
Tuesday, I finished the day with 20,610 steps. Burned about 3,579 Calories. Traveled 9.13 miles and was active for 126. I consumed 1,452 and I hit my exercise and water intake goals for the day.
Wednesday, I finished the day with 20,867 steps. I burned 3,441 calories. Traveled 9.24 miles. I consumed 1,635 calories and I was active for 138. I hit my exercise and water intake goals for that day. Today was also a gym day.
Thursday, I finished the day with 20,784 steps. I burned 3,580 calories. I traveled 9.21 miles. I consumed 1,454 calories and was active 154 minutes of the day. I hit my exercise and water intake goals for that day. Today was also a gym day.
Friday, I finished with 21,059 steps. I burned 3,806 calories. I traveled 9.33 miles. I consumed 1,677 calories and was active 160 minutes. I hit my exercise and water intake goals for that day.
Saturday, Oh boy.. Saturdays are not work days. I finished this day with a hard effort 16,026 steps. I burned 3,208 calories. I traveled 7.1 miles and was active for 96 minutes. I hit my exercise and water intake goals for the day. However, I busted the calorie intake goals by going over the allowed 2,000 calories. I consumed 2,032 calories. While the fitbit reads that I was still under goal, I did not hit my personal goal for that day. But I’ll be damned if those mashed potatoes weren’t amazing!
Sunday, the day finished with the lowest steps of the week, 15184 steps completed. I burned 3,069 calories, I traveled 6.73 miles and I was active for 57 minutes. I hit my exercise and water intake goals. I hit right under the mark of the food intake at 1,920 calories.
Going over what I was able to do easily this week, my goals for week two have not changed. I’m capable of completing 20,000 steps in a day, I just have to be committed to the work on the weekends. That being said… I’m off to start a new week. My next weigh and measure will be on August 27th. I’m not overly looking forward to it, but at least I’m actually working at it.
Until next time, be kind to yourself and others,
Beck
